Wine Summary
WA’s Driftwood is “a well established landmark on the Margaret River scene” with a busy, acclaimed restaurant and wines known for “striking and stylish packaging and opulent flavours”. This classic red a case in point. “A combination of 15-18 months in 100% French oak (35% new). Pretty much textbook Margaret River Cabernet in every way (although 6% is other Bordeaux varieties). Leafiness is upfront on the bouquet, in various guises; dried Bay leaf, tobacco, and a touch of something green. Mulberries and darker blue fruits control the palate, with choc-mint and savoury, aromatic oak characters in support. Tannin is fine and persistent...93 points” (Halliday).
