Wine Summary
Deep, dark and dangerously easily to drink, Rex Mundi Special Edition is a beguiling black beauty created by Parker rated winemaker Hervé Sabardeil, whose lavish elixirs have been wowing lovers of ‘black reds’ for over a decade. His Cuvée Cathare takes it up another notch – it’s terrifyingly good! Hervé uses Syrah, Carignan and Grenache from the very oldest vines – some over 100 years in age – grown on the finest slate soils of Maury in the Languedoc Roussillon region. As you might imagine, yields are minute, which accounts for the depth of colour and intensity of flavour. This is a powerful rich and deep black red, beautifully balanced and terrifically long. It has an incredible melt-in-the-mouth, velvety richness, and six months’ oak-ageing adds layers of sumptuous, creamy spice.
