James Halliday gives Nannup Ridge a five-black star rating, saying that “terrific value is par for the course”. The vineyards are situated on the beautiful rolling hills of Nannup, high on the Blackwood River escarpment, overlooking the coastal plain towards Margaret River. The Firetower Cabernet Merlot is named after the landmark solid jarrah fire tower that was installed by the Forestry Department in the 1960s. It’s a full-flavoured wine, laden with rich, dark fruit (cassis, black cherry, blueberry) and complex layers of coffee, toasty oak and chocolate. The palate is silky smooth and elegantly refined. Drinking really beautifully now.
