<p> It's no coincidence the Papavero family of wines is amongst our customers' favourites – winemaker Scipione Giuliani always manages to capture the very essence of the grape, the spirit of Italy and a delicious drinkability. This is the ‘granddaddy’ of the group, made purely from Primitivo from a plot of 50 year old vines, resulting in very concentrated flavour. </p> <p> Scipione discovered the vines in Puglia, and insisted that the grapes be bottled solo. To match the richness of the fruit he aged the wine in barrel for a few months, lending it mellow roundness and complexity. ll Papavero Primitivo is a weighty red, best served with similarly hearty food. Enjoy with spaghetti with a tomato, garlic and basil sauce, or with roast meats or pork casserole. </p>
