Pikes Traditionale Clare Valley Riesling 2017
Dazzling Clare Valley Riesling from the famous Pikes estate ..96 points from Halliday!
Five Red Star ‘Pikes’ is owned by the Pike brothers – viticulturalist Andrew, and winemaker Neil. Halliday writes that “in most vintages its white wines, led by Riesling, are the most impressive.” Neil’s Traditionale has been scored 94 points or more for the past six vintages.
“Both estate and contract-grown, the 33rd consecutive release from one of the great Clare Valley vintages, joining ’02, ’05, ’09 and ’12. Crisp acidity and the faintest hint of spritz lift the palate from the word go; the freshness of lime and lemon fruit is underwritten by minerally notes ex the acidity... 96 points” (Halliday).
