Wine Summary
In the last decade, the crisp, pure and characterful whites of Spain’s Galicia have come to the fore, Albariño in particular. Friends of ours in Rioja – aficionados wouldl know their wines well – have spread their net and in 2014 acquired a cellar there, in an excellent subregion of Rías Baixas, Valle de Saines. Close to the Atlantic, the vines here are ocean cooled, so the grapes ripen slowly. That slower pace means more aromatics, greater depth of flavour and a lovely freshness. Taste all that in this sprightly Selección Numerada, with its tang of the sea. It’s a special bottling, just for our customers, from a 5-Star vintage too. A definite for summer especially, but all year round as well. An elegant partner to seafood, creamy risotto or pasta.
