Olly Smith (The Daily Mail) describes Vermentino as "a gently aromatic white that can be as scented as lemon blossom and as bracing as the sea breeze". It loves the Mediterranean sun, which is why the grape thrives in Sicily, where it develops delicious, mouthfilling, ripe, creamy flavours countered by vibrancy and zest. Trazzera comes from high vineyards overlooking the coast in the island's southwest. It's made by Carlo Ferracane at a tip-top local cellar that pools the resources of local small growers to make modern, authentic wines. Carefully cool fermented and early bottled, it's lean, nutty and exceptionally refreshing. It makes a delicious apéritif.
