Inspired by a rag-tag bunch of kids who turned the streets and vineyards of Coonawarra into an endless bike park in the 1980s. A 5000-acre playground with no out of bounds, no helmets and no limits. From the talented hands and refined palate of winemaker extraordinaire John Quarisa comes the Jailbirds Chardonnay. A portion of the wine was fermented in seasoned French oak barrels and matured for 6 months until blending and bottling. Fresh lifted fruits like citrus, peach and tropical fruit with subtle well-balanced spice. Chill a bottle in the fridge and watch as everyone flocks to this easy-drinking beauty. It's the perfect partner to a creamy pasta or a delicious cheeseboard.
RedHeads aren't shy of creating a stir, all in the name of top winemaking. And Harmonie Chardie really rocks! Since starting off in 2002, Redheads have blazed a trail to become one of Australia’s leading sustainable cellars – masters of small-batch, eco-friendly winemaking. They've won 8 trophies and over 200 Golds for their wines, including two for the debut release of Harmonie Rox. All the grapes come from grower Jack Bursten’s unique Coonawarra vineyard. It was originally planted by the late, great Wayne Stehbans – twice winner of Australia’s most prestigious wine Trophy, the Jimmy Watson. So he knew a thing or two about growing top grapes! And it really shows in the wine. Fermented in part new French oak, it's creamy, spiced and fruity.
Established in 1972, Mountadam High Eden Estate is one of Australia’s oldest cool climate Chardonnay vineyards. Situated on a unique rocky outcrop the estate commands an easterly aspect 500-550m high over Eden Valley. On release the wine is pale straw in colour. It displays classic Chardonnay characters of peach, nectarine and fresh figs. French oak barrel fermentation and maturation gives the wine secondary aromas of cashew nuts and mixed spices. The palate has a complex mix of peach, citrus, cashew nuts, subtle truffle and spice characters throughout.
The Angaston Road Growers range is all about honouring the often unsung heroes of the wine world, the growers. It is their intimate knowledge of the local terroir, the changes of season, and the varietals they tend to that ensure the special parcels of fruit that make it to the winery are in tip-top form to make quality wines like this elegant Chardonnay. The wine recognises Mick Gillon, a proud vigneron who works the rich red Terra Rossa soils of the Coonawarra. And when it came to finding the best selection of Chardonnay for this new wine, the Angaston Road winemakers knew instantly to reach out to Mick. His MacVale Chardonnay vineyard is managed organically and is not long off official certification. Mick is also a part-time beekeeper, looking after a friendly hive of pollinators who help during flowering. Once picked, the Chardonnay is crafted and bottled in the Barossa using local glass, capsules and 100% recycled paper labels. Aromas of peach, citrus and toasty oak are reflected on a broad stone fruit, spiced apple and bright citrus palate.
