Wine Summary
The tiny village of Sancerre in the Loire's Central Vineyards has been the spiritual home of Sauvignon Blanc for centuries. Its cool climate and gentle limestone hills bring out an intensity and elegance in the grape that’s still unrivalled. “Gun flint – the smell of sparks when flint strikes metal”, along with “the smell and taste of fresh blackcurrants, leaves and all” writes expert Hugh Johnson. The finest quality come from small, family-run estates like Daniel Reverdy’s, and a host of recent awards include a Gold and 90pts from Decanter for this lovely 2015. Flavours of gooseberry, asparagus and sure enough, a flinty mineral character, makes this a great match for fresh goat’s cheese, seafood stew or provençale style fish dishes.
