The Wine
Poggerissi is a delectable, cherry-rich Sangiovese made just like Chianti. While some of the grapes are from within the appellation, others are from just outside, hence its IGT status. It is from Paolo Masi’s third generation family estate in Chianti’s premium Rufina district. There he crafts superb, award winning wines and has done so ever since he graduated top of his class from university and took over the family property in 1990. He makes a whole range of wines – from crisp whites to Super Tuscan reds, and, most importantly, Chianti. 2019’s exceptionally hot, dry summer created super concentrated grapes, so this gorgeous, silky red has plenty of intense fruit as well as freshness. Perfect on its own or with pizza, pasta or chicken.
