A rather special, bright, single vineyard release from Pyrenees, and Five Star Mount Avoca, owned by Matthew and Lisa Barry, who have long been one of the stalwarts of the cool climate region. “Something of a ‘grand cru’ vineyard of the region is the reputation Malakoff has, and invariably it delivers accordingly. Some attractive, lifted notes on the bouquet here, with floral and mint aromas alongside the plum, cherry, and savoury oak. Has a supple, light on its feet quality through the palate, with the fruit having a tangy, cranberry/crabapple edge about it... 93 points” (Halliday).
