The Wine
DOWIE DOOLE was founded in 1995 by Drew Dowie and Norm Doole, and grew considerably under winemaker and managing director Chris Thomas. The estate has vineyards in two of McLaren Vale’s most prized sub-regions Blewitt Springs and Tatachilla.
“The freshness of the berried fruit flavours here is really quite something. It’s sweet, jubey, a little earthen and a bit toasty. Fruit, though, is both the main plot and the chief subplot too. It’s a red wine you just want to hook into. Ultra-fine tannins lend the wine good shape, and the run of the finish has plenty going for it... 93pts” (Halliday).
