The Wine
A lavishly rich and grand Gold-medal 93pt Barossa Shiraz from ‘the birthplace of the Barossa' as Château Tanunda has been called. It was established in 1890 and is the site of some of the Valley’s first vines planted as well as its first winery. After falling into decline, John Geber, who has owned it since 1998, has restored both the impressive winery building and the estate’s reputation. It truly is grand. And so are its wines – taste this inky black and intense Shiraz beauty and see. Lifted aromas of blackberry, plum, olive and black pepper are accompanied by spicy, dark berry fruits on the palate. The finish is long and silky with fine tannins. 18 months maturation in a combination of French and American oak barrels. The tannins are slowly softening thanks to time in bottle. Gold at Berliner Wine Trophy and 93pts from Wine Orbit!
