d'Arenberg The Galvo Garage McLaren Vale Cabernet Blend 2015

‘Garage wines’ is a term used to describe wines that are produced in the back sheds of French winemakers, who make small batch wines of the highest quality. D'Arenberg's galvanized, corrugated ‘garage’ was built in 1927 and still houses the traditional equipment used in the handcrafting of this wine. Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Merlot (25%), Petit Verdot (14%) and Cabernet Franc (1%). Made during an exceptionally balanced year. A lifted and perfumed nose displaying complex notes of violets, blackcurrant and ripe berries. The colour is quite rich, almost dark, suggesting a fuller-bodied flavour profile. The palate is elegant, yet sings with ripe fruits, and is extremely juicy with deep richness and structure. This mix of pure fruit combines with fine oak tannins that lead to a lovely fragrant dark chocolate, minerally dry finish. After several years cellaring, we believe the 2015 Galvo Garage Cabernet blend is drinking beautifully now; chewy tannins settled, vibrant juiciness giving way to a richer, jammier, more integrated palate.
