The Wine
Evans & Tate Cellar Door is set among some of the oldest vines in Margaret River at the Redbrook vineyard. It dates from 1974 – and was named after Evans & Tate founder John Tate’s beloved Dachshund! It’s located in the picturesque landscape of Wilyabrup, known for its superb quality Cabernet Sauvignon. This quadruple Gold-winning, 95pt release sees Cabernet working in perfect harmony with Merlot in a classic blend that can excel in Margaret River. “Over my 19 years with Evans & Tate, I have seen a gradual refinement and grace at the core of our premium wines and it is exciting to see them so highly recognised”. Winemaker, Matt Byrne.
“Gold medals from the WA, Adelaide and National Wine Shows. The varieties were vinified separately, matured for 18 months. Attention to detail has captured all the fruit needed without any heavy-handed work in the winery. Simply delicious, simply elegant - just a juicy play of cassis/red berries/fine-spun tannins... 95pts” (Halliday).
