The Wine
Puglia offers “undreamed-of character and potential” (Hugh Johnson) and “reds that give you a lot of wine for your money” (Decanter), yet even in this context Pillastro Selezione d’Oro stands out. Angelo Maci spares no expense in crafting it, and consequently among our customers he has won admirers by the thousand. There are three keys to this wine’s success. Cantine Due Palme has been Winery of the Year three times, while Angelo Maci has multiple Winemaker of the Year titles and a Lifetime Achievement award too. Plus, the grapes, from 50 year old vines, are simply the best for miles around. Ageing in French oak barrels adds the finishing touches to this complex rich, dense fruit red. Decant and serve with roast meats or a rich pasta dish.
