It comes from one of the country’s most iconic and distinguished wineries and is named after a very important part of family history. The Thunderstep was the favourite racehorse of Joseph Osborn, d'Arenberg's founder. It was the reluctant sale of The Thunderstep that enabled the purchase of the land that was to become the d'Arenberg estate, so you can imagine this is a very special Shiraz indeed! The team at d'Arenberg are proud that for the second year in a row they have won a place in the World's Best Vineyards, and have just won the Trophy for Best Winery at the prestigious London Wine Competition 2020. The Thunderstep is distinguished and complex, with barrels of character and distinction that simply sings McLaren Vale. Enjoy big aromas of black pepper, spices and red berry fruits, and a seductive palate of dark fruits, earthy character, and a long spicy, mineral finish. Round and firm tannins make it age-worthy, yet absolutely delicious now.
