Fresh, lively and flavour-packed 93pt, Great Value McLaren Vale example of a pretty rare Italian grape excellently handled by Chalk Hill's outstanding winemaking team under the brilliant Renae Hirsch.
“Arneis was one of the earlier niche Italian white grapes to make an impact in this country, but it is now somewhat shadowed; perhaps as it’s fiddly to farm. But examples like this suggest it’s worth the trouble. This is classically varietal, with green pear, some golden apple, a hint of cool stone fruit and orchard florals. There’s an engaging rip to the acidity, again varietal when picked just right. And this is, with lovely freshness, subtle texture and depth of flavour.93pts Great Value.” (Marcus Ellis, The Halliday Wine Companion).
John Lehmann, writing in The Australian, loves its "…balance, freshness and long finish. The nose is perfumed with stone fruit, blossom and ripe apple, while the palate is studded with stone fruit – peach and nectarine with citrus."
"The growth of Chalk Hill has accelerated after passing from parents John and Diana Harvey to grapegrowing sons Jock and Tom. (Halliday)
