Esulé – not released every year – and not always in the same blend – is one of the most iconic releases from the dynamic RedHeads' team.
This Gold-winning, 95pt 2023 release is a cross-regional blend of McLaren Vale Shiraz and Barossa Valley Durif. "A real bold Shiraz Durif with real swagger." as Vino Master Judges described it. Their tasting note alone makes the mouth water: "Inky purple-black with massive depth. A monstrous nose explodes with charry new oak, dark currant, blackberry compote, lashings of liquorice, warm spice, vanilla pod and smoky chocolate. The palate is a powerhouse of dense dark fruits, ripe mulberry, espresso, fig and anise, wrapped in thick velvety tannins and layers of toasty cedar, roasted coffee and sweet spice from generous oak. Full-bodied intensity builds relentlessly with incredible concentration, savoury undertones and a long, commanding finish that lingers for minutes. 95pts" (Vino Masters judges).
Previous vintages have also been highly praised and highly rated by critics – and talk about iconic – the Esulé label artwork has been exhibited in San Francisco’s MOMA (Museum of Modern Art). So, don’t miss this iconic red – the label of which has been greeted with pleasure both by art lovers – and of course a lucky few wine collectors who have bottles tucked away in their cellars.
