Exceptional Barossa Shiraz:"an excellent, characterful expression that artfully walks the line between power and elegance. 94pts" as Marcus Ellis, writes in The Halliday Wine Companion. "Blackberry, ripe mulberry, worn leather and dark spices; a vibrancy and a pleasing ruggedness gifted by the meagre soils. As the wine opens, red fruit notes swell up with a bloody ferrous note and a pretty glimpse of red and blue flowers fading to dryness."
For John Lehmann, writing in The Australian: "The quality of the winemaking helps to tread a deft path through an intensity in both nose and palate, starting with dried herbs, blackberry and mulberry and a minerality as you breath in. The fruit in the mouth is concentrated, the flavours balanced between savoury and ripe and the power restrained and elegant."
This amazing winery is riding high – leading a serious Australian Grenache revival, crafting fabulous Shiraz and Chardonnay, but also racking up some of the country’s most prestigious wine honours including Halliday’s Wine of the Year 2026, The Real Review Wine of the Year 2026, and Trophies at the McLaren Vale Wine Show including the prestigious title of Bushing Monarchs. They may be known best for Grenache single sites in McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley, but also produce outstanding Shiraz – this being an excellent example, mainly sourced from Mattschoss vineyard in the Eden Valley.
